Toddler Care Index with Patricia Crittenden Ph.D. in Iceland

Service Description

The TCI, with the addition of the “frustration & repair” task, enables professionals to use a 5-minute procedure to estimate 2-5 year-olds’ attachment strategy with their parents. That is, the TCI provides information about both interaction and attachment and extends this to 5 years of age. Instructor: Patricia M. Crittenden, Ph.D., Prerequisites: 1) Before the course: ICI, SSP, or PAA 2) Before taking the reliability test, Attachment & Psychopathology Language: The course will be in English, although the interactions will be in several languages. From prior experience, we know that mixed cultural groups are the most exciting, and we hope many of you will be able to attend and enjoy meeting colleagues from different countries and viewing interactions from varied cultures. What to bring: 1 clinical and 1 normative interaction or 1 dyad pre- and post-intervention (2 videos) on DVD or USB drive, with consent forms. Time : The course will taught for 5 days (28 Nov - 2 Dec) in classroom and then 5 days on-line in February 2024. The reliability test is included in the price if completed within 2 months after completion of practice TCIs. Registration: space is limited to 15 persons. Trainer: Patricia M. Crittenden Ph.D. Founder, Director of Research and Publication Patricia M. Crittenden studied under Mary. D. Ainsworth from 1978 until 1983, when she received her Ph.D. as a psychologist in the Social Ecology and Development Program at the University of Virginia. In addition to Mary Ainsworth’s constant guidance and support, her psychology master’s thesis, on the CARE-Index, was developed in consultation with John Bowlby and her family systems research, on patterns of family functioning in maltreated families, was accomplished with guidance from E. Mavis Hetherington. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education, with specializations in mental retardation and emotional disturbance (University of Virginia, 1969.)
